Additional written terms may apply to an individual research project.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. Website Use<\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The website provides information about Ottoman Research, historical-research services, published editorial material and the current Heritage Shop information shell.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Users must not interfere with website security or operation, submit unlawful or malicious material, misuse forms, attempt unauthorised access, or use site content in a way that infringes applicable rights.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3. Historical and Editorial Information<\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Website and Journal content is general historical and educational information. It does not constitute a case-specific research conclusion, legal advice, immigration advice, tax advice, valuation or authentication.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Historical interpretations may depend on the available evidence and may change when further material becomes available.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">4. Research Enquiries<\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Research begins through a written enquiry. Submission does not guarantee acceptance and is not a contract.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ottoman Research may review the information supplied, request clarification, assess whether the work falls within its service scope, and provide a written scope or quotation where appropriate.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">5. Scope, Agreement and Research Start<\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A research project proceeds through written review, clarification where required, a written scope and quotation, client approval, and the applicable payment or agreement controls. Commissioned research remains outside WooCommerce.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">An enquiry, email, scope acceptance or payment alone does not automatically form a contract, provide early-performance consent, or authorise research to begin. A contract is formed only under the applicable written project agreement and legal controls.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Research does not begin until the applicable agreement, confirmation and research-start controls have been completed. For a consumer distance contract, the required contract information and cancellation information must be provided, and a durable contract confirmation must be sent after formation and before research begins.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If a consumer asks for work to begin during a statutory cancellation period, Ottoman Research must obtain a separate express early-performance request. Payment, invoice payment, scope acceptance, general contract acceptance or silence does not automatically provide that request. Any required acknowledgement concerning full performance must also be recorded separately.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">6. Research Scope and Results<\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Research is limited to the agreed question, scope and available evidence. No particular document, ancestor, relationship, provenance chain or historical conclusion is guaranteed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Archives and records may be incomplete, inaccessible, inconsistent, damaged, difficult to read or no longer surviving. The <a href=\"\/ar\/research-disclaimer\/\">Research Disclaimer<\/a> provides further information.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">7. Client Information and Materials<\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Clients should provide information that is relevant and, to the best of their knowledge, accurate. A client supplying a document in later written correspondence should have a legitimate basis for providing it for the requested review or research. Submission does not transfer ownership of the material to Ottoman Research.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Clients should avoid unnecessary sensitive information about living people. Ottoman Research may decline to process material where its receipt or proposed use appears inappropriate or unlawful.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">8. Research Deliverables and Intellectual Property<\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The agreed deliverables will be identified in the written project scope. Any transfer or licence of rights in Ottoman Research-created reports, translations, analysis or other original work must be stated in the project agreement.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">No agreement transfers rights in third-party, archival, licensed or public-domain source material beyond rights the relevant owner or law permits.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">9. Consumer Research-Service Cancellation<\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Where a consumer enters a distance contract for research services, applicable cancellation information will be supplied before the contract is concluded.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Starting work during the cancellation period does not, by itself, end the cancellation right. If a consumer validly requests early performance and then cancels before full performance, a proportionate amount for the service actually supplied may be payable where the legal information and request requirements have been satisfied. No arbitrary cancellation fee, fixed penalty or automatic forfeiture is created.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Business or professional clients do not receive statutory consumer cancellation rights merely because a contract is concluded at a distance.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">10. Heritage Shop Current State<\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Heritage Shop purchasing, live retail checkout, payment gateways and public purchasable products are disabled for the current launch. The website does not currently invite or accept retail orders. Retail ordering, payment, shipping, returns and contract-formation terms will be activated only after the separate commerce controls and publication-ready policies are completed.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">11. External Links<\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">External links may be provided for context or convenience. Ottoman Research is not responsible for third-party content, availability or privacy practices merely because a link is included.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">12. Site Content and Intellectual Property<\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ottoman Research may own copyright in original site text, research writing, layouts, branding and design. Historical material displayed on the site may be public domain, third-party, licensed or subject to separate rights. Ottoman Research does not claim copyright ownership over a public-domain historical work merely because it appears on the site.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">No image licence or ownership is implied beyond the applicable source and rights position.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">13. Liability and Mandatory Rights<\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nothing in these Terms excludes liability where exclusion would be unlawful, including liability for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or death or personal injury caused by negligence. Nothing limits mandatory consumer rights.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Research limitations and evidence uncertainty do not remove Ottoman Research\u2019s responsibility to provide an agreed service with applicable legal standards of care.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">14. Governing Law<\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These Terms and contracts with Ottoman Research are governed by the law of England and Wales. For consumers, this choice does not remove mandatory protections that apply under relevant consumer law. Jurisdiction remains subject to legally applicable consumer protections, including those relevant to the consumer\u2019s place of residence.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">15. Changes<\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These Terms may be updated when services, commerce arrangements or legal requirements change. Changes do not retrospectively alter an existing contract unless lawfully agreed or required.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">16.
